Me on decomP magazinE II

You'll remember that I was on decomP, a literary magazine, once before. That was about a scientist who got mad.

This time my story "Femme Fatale, Rabid Raccoon" is in the decomP March issue. It's not about an actual raccoon, but there might be a femme fatale in there. It also includes audio of me reading the story, so you can finally hear my voice, the way you've always wanted. Play it for your kids to lull them to sleep. There's lots of other cool stuff in the issue, so poke around.

By the way, decomP is doing a Kickstarter campaign to put out its first print edition, so give.

The Indomitable Jason Jordan

So my title just came to me, and I fear it's because of the Robert Jordan book The Indomitable Conan. Okay, a quick Google check and it turns out that actually Steve Perry wrote Conan the Indomitable. Stay with me a second, I'm still going to say it makes some sense since Jason is clearly a Conan of the literary world (for god's sake, look at that picture...that's clearly a literate badass), slaying his enemies and whatnot, not with violence but with his scimitar sharp writing...okay, I'm pushing this, but here's why:

Now out for your reading pleasure, Jordan's new story collection Cloud and Other Stories and a new version of his earlier collection Powering the Devil's Circus: Redux. Jason Jordan is a widely published writer of powerful stories and the editor of the literary magazine decomP. These books contain his stories, stories full of dark absurdism and compassionate realism. These are stories that make you feel the primal essence of life, like Conan screaming over a battlefield.

All right, forget Conan. But read Jason Jordan's new collections.

Pick 5: Holiday Favors

Happy Holidays! Nothing puts me in the spirit like fiction, non-Santa-related fiction. So here are five I've been enjoying in no particular order.

1. Derek Nikitas, who, for full disclosure, is a friend of mine, recently published three loosely linked stories. My favorite is "Razor" at Thuglit (the other two are "Bronze Horsemen" in Plots With Guns and "Homecoming" in Pulp Pusher).

2. David Erlewine's "Always with Us" at The Pedestal Magazine.

3. Roland Goity's "America’s Least Wanted" at decomP.

4. Jason Jordan's "Iron Lung" at Red Peter.

5. And I will go out on a holiday note with Carolyn McGovern's cheery "HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND GREETINGS TO ALL!!!!" over at Monkeybicycle.

Yippie, reading!
